Investments in e-NG projects are skyrocketing, with individual e-NG producers easily achieving hundreds of millions of dollars in financing rounds. While the industry’s potential continues to draw support, there are some pitfalls that must be considered. Especially when the e-NG project depends upon renewable energy infrastructure.
While hydrogen is beautiful in its simplicity (after all, what other chemical element is readily produced by simply splitting water with electricity?), hydrogen comes with its own set of challenges. Top of the list? Storage and transport.
Teralta works with the Government of British Columbia to help advance the Province’s objective to rapidly increase clean energy production. Case in point is our Prince George project where we’ve partnered with Chemtrade, Canfor, Fortis, and AdvanTec to capture and clean byproduct hydrogen generated at the Chemtrade facility. The clean hydrogen is distributed to the neighbouring Canfor facility where it is used to power and heat the operation, reducing the use of natural gas.
